The new round of StartScience, the mentoring programme for female Bachelor’s and Master’s students interested in doing a doctorate in all subjects at the University of Stuttgart, will start in mid-July 2025. We are looking for female doctoral students who would like to get involved as mentors and support a female student (mentee) in career planning and pursuing their professional goals. By participating as a mentor, you will have the opportunity to reflect on your own professional career and strengthen your counselling and mediation skills. You will also have the chance to network and exchange ideas with female doctoral students from other disciplines.
The aim is to motivate female students to pursue an academic career and to provide effective tools for career orientation and individual perspective development. To this end, each student is assigned a female doctoral student as a mentor for 12 months (meeting approximately every 6 weeks). The students also exchange ideas with each other in so-called ‘success teams’. During the entire mentoring process, there is also a supporting programme of workshops and networking events.
